    Folks,

For the past number of months i've noticed that my AC is doing nothing when i turn it on. Its only lately since the warmer weather i'm noticing how ineffective it is. I drive a 2.0 TDI Golf and when i turn it on now i swear the air actually gets warmer than the normal cold air :D

I usually get the car serviced from karman on the navan road in Dublin and they have quoted me 79 to get it regassed. The thing is i mention it at my last service in January but was told there no way a 2009 VW would need to be regassed already.

Does anyone have a similar experience? could it be some other issue?

It's probably the A/C compressor that we've had numerous failures of on 09 / 10 Passat's and Superb's. Around €750 from a dealer I think, or possibly get a recon unit fitted for about €450 with an indy.

Our previous car (VW PD diesel) lost gas twice - once due to a leak on the drier cartridge cap and once on the condensor radiator.

Go get a leak test done by a specialist, it should pinpoint any issues.

I used Brendan in Auto Air in Dunshaughlin - 086 2023523.

If it's out of gas then it will be because there's a leak somewhere - you really need to have it looked at. Does the light come on when you switch it on?

    Cheers for replies!

Yep the light comes on as normal but the air certainly isnt getting any colder. I have the car 2 years and did notice the AC was never amazing.

Karman did say they would do a leak test aswell because i said i wanted to be sure it was a re-gassing issue before i got it done.

Looking at the AC compressor i hope it isnt the problem because there's no way i'm dropping 750/450 on a new one.
