know sarah since she started out ,ive coached girls the same age who were very good , but didnt stay at it for a variety of reasons ,but she was very good from day 1.
lovely girl and a great competitor and lucky to have a good coach and family backing who have looked after her well.
unbeatable at domestic level over the years running very fast times in sprints at a young age winning national titles with ease.
after running close to 12sec age 14 her times didnt progress over the next few years ,but she was still winning although other girls were improving and getting closer.
she was beaten in the english aaa u15 by JODIE WILLIAMS
and this and lack of progression on times the idea of hurdles came about.
say she was keeping her options open.
turned out to be a great move by her ,unbeaten moving up the years over hurdles breaking derval o rourkes records along the way and now no.2 behind
    derval and euro youths medal.
if she had progressed her times u15 to sub 12 sec she probably would never took up hurdles and if she had started u18/19 things might not have gone as well starting on senior maarks @ 2-9

looking at results over the years from this age group i can remember a certain PHIL HEALY running and struggling to make a munster final never mind medal , just tagging along keeping her sister JOAN [star at that time] company. PHIL is now the top junior sprinter in the country running standards for major champs this year
lesson to be learnt here for all athletes and coaches ,keep at it
its not always the stars at 13/14 that make it some are slower developers lke phil. keep plugging away and enjoy it.
