What size roofbox? Where to buy?

Heading to france next month and am planning to get a roofbox. Have a Tiguan so don't think the boot will be big enough to carry everything for a family of four for two weeks. Just not sure what size I need. I was thinking a 470L box like this one (http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_709073_langId_-1_categoryId_212588)

Is that one too big? Is there a better place to buy them? Any advice is appreciated?

Just make sure that the roof box doesn't take you over any height restrictions on any ferry bookings you might have or at least check first if its going to put the fair up if you are over a certain height.

I've just bought roof bars there and they were a fair bit cheaper than halfords too.

Does your Tiguan have raised roof rails ? If so, the roof bars work out cheaper.

Regarding size, 470 litres is similar to the boot capacity of a large saloon, e.g. passat, avensis so should be easily big enough.

They are the Irish agents for Thule, but also carry a Sub-Brand of Thule which is more or less the same equipment, but cheaper (think Skoda instead of VW).

Have a look on Done Deal. I was lucky enough to pick up a Thule roof box (420 L) that the seller has only used twice for €140.

Mine is as big as the boot in my Laguna. I use it for all the camping gear.

I just bought some roof bars on micksgarage for 80, and a nice roofbox in perfect condition on donedeal for EUR70. Very happy with it.
