    Hi

I am interested in doing a degree in Social Care.
I am thinking about doing it as a long distance course from NUI Galway has anyone done this? and would you recommend it?
I am also looking into doing it as a full time course with Institute in Blanchardstown.

Is there much work in this area? or does anyone know would I better doing a degree to be a Social Worker? I am soooo confused with all of this!!

Hi Jennifer. I am also interested in doing a degree in social care. Was looking into the BA in NUI. looks good course. Are you currently working in social care at the moment? do you know if you can still apply to the BA in social care in NUI if you are not working in social care field at present?

    Hi

Yes I rang the college a while back and I was told you need to be in a social care environment.
If you are interested in the part time course this is required. They said you can look for voluntary work but you would need to be doing 2 days a week somewhere for a year before you apply. I have decided to do Nursing instead as this is just not a possible route for me to take.
Alot of social care colleges now require you to be in a social care background because no 1 your course work will be based on this and no 2 alot of past pupils dropped out from previous years.
i know there is a college in Blanchardstown that offers this course on a full time basis and does not require you to have work experience but most of them do.
    Goodluck with your decision
