    Hello,
    Hyundai Sonata on topic today.
Good alternative for Mazda 5/6 or Honda Accord? Or maybe even Merc or Audi?
I'm looking for a second car and this one caught my attention. Looks great, almost like midrange Merc or Audi but is it worth buying?
2006/2007 is priced from 3K to 8K, unfortunate because the car isn't so popular there are only few from second hand, at least I wont have to go thru 100 cars to find the one.
    Any opinion would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Kia Magentis is the same car.

Sonata tends to have good spec, 6 speed later ones are way better to drive, earlier diesel a bit gutless.

    Seats very low and unsupportive.

Darn it, thats to bad to hear. I have that problem with my Accent, getting in or out after a job is like climbing the Everest.
As for target at "luxury" cars i would expect something else.

    Look at a Volvo S60 2.0T - They're cheap and plentiful.

Thought about it already. I love the rear the S60 but that the reason for hate as well, the boot is to small for me.

    They thought of that!

    S80?

Well, the sonata is the blind mans accord so that makes sense.

They are very cheap for many good reasons.

If i could get one for 1K that then I would go for it.
Did few kms in estate one, wasnt bad but i didnt had the feeling to get one.

So you have a budget of €1k as you mentioned €3k to €8k in your original post?

I'd still rather have a €1k Accord than a €1k Sonata. The Sonata of that vintage were rubbish imo.

Budget is up to 6K with repairs. I just have opportunity to get 06 2.4L Sonata for 1400€.

The seats are brilliant in the Volvos if you can persuade yourself that you'd like one.

    What condition is it in?

If its working fine and has an NCT and doesn't need work I'd consider that a bargain

I wouldn't touch a 2.4 sonata. Im not averse to cars with big engines, but that engine isn't powerful, you'd get similar performance from a 2.0 elsewhere.
Its all drawbacks. As soon as you tax it you've nearly doubled your budget.

NCT is till next year. Need some attention under the hood.

The power isnt the most important factor for me, normally i would not even check it but with that price its temptimg me.
    2.0l would be 710€, 2.4L 1080€ i know its 300€ more per year.

    Like what?

Do you know the current owner and the cars history?

Unless you know exactly what the car needs and how much its costing I'd be very wary
