Can anyone fill me in on their benefits, drawbacks and usability? I have always avoided them as they look overly complicated. How is extra mag storage factored in? Any and all relevant info is appreciated.

Pistol locks in by a catch on the holster body. When you're drawing the pistol, your trigger finger releases the catch and enables you to draw naturally. Found no drawbacks with mine. Rock solid, secure, no losing mags from the pistol shaking about in the holster. Extra mag storage, use some MOLLE pouches on your belt or vest for pistol mags.

How tightly does it cling to your leg? Does it move much while running?

As tight as you want it, it still bounces, but not as much, I prefer them mounted on a belt anyway.
