    Hi,

I'm looking at getting a bike for cycling to work/shops so i dont have to take road bike and cycling shoes etc so was considering a hybrid but then saw the bianchi pista and now am leaning towards a fixie. I was just wondering if anyone on here does any training on a fixie and if its worth it over a hybrid for doubling up as a commuter and trainer?

    Any opinions appreciated!

    Thanks

I have one and I love it. Running it single speed rather than fixed though. Lovely looking, comfortable and I find the gear ratio is ideal for commuting.

Yep, train and commute on one. I'd say the key is the gear ratio you choose.

I got one a few weeks ago for that very purpose (s) and am loving it. I've been using it fixed, so far so good - perfect for commutes and general knocking about. Did my first training spin on it today and it went great.

Sounds good where did you get one from? I'v found a couple online from uk stores for 750sterlimg but would prefer to buy in a shop if any stock them in dublin area?

I was after the chrome version which was discontinued this year, and could only get one in my size from Slane cycles, Belfast ( 700 sterling - the last one of that type in stock ).

Hollingsworth should be able to sort you out. Penny Farthing on Camden street and McQuaids in Finglas as well.
