Opinions on this laptop?

    Hi all,

My HP G62 packed in, and I'm looking for a new laptop. I use my laptop for the internet, MS Word and storing a bit of music/pictures. The basics really, no gaming or coding or the like.

I've seen a Sony Vaio laptop at the limit of my budget at €700 here at Currys (I'll probably buy in-store here). The specs look okay, but I'm not tech savvy enough to know if I'm [a] overlooking an obvious flaw or overlooking a cheaper, better alternative.

    So, two questions:

    - Is this a good laptop to buy for durability/speediness? I want something zippy to handle the basic web browsing and word processing.

    - Is there any other laptops that offer more to me in or around this price level? I like the i5 processor, keyboard and screen size of this laptop in particular.

    Thanks guys.

today special offer in save on laptops is a lenovo z580 i7

    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_Z580_1296623.html

All depends on what you want it for. A modern i7 is better then an i5 which is better then a modern i3 but if all youre using it for is the internet and office then anything over an i3 isnt needed.

Regardless its highly unlikely that a bricks and mortar store will give as much value for money as an online store. Have a look at www.saveonlaptops.co.uk www.laptopsdirect.ie and www.dabs.ie

If youre buying for business dont worry about save on laptops being uk, supply the vat reg and they dont charge the vat.

Im no expert but asked the local repair shop before buying they reckon asus best followed by lenovo with acer last but highlighted that theres a bit of pot luck involved.
Lenovo are chinese who bought out IBM.
I would really recommend buying on line you get a lot more for youre buck. If your not doing games, compiling, video editing etc then an i3 is easily good enough though.

DO NOT BUY A LAPTOP AT THE MOMENT. In about 2 weeks the latest intel CPU's will be out which are apparently going to double battery life. Even if you're not interested in the new ones the price of current laptops will fall drastically! :D
Have a look at this if you want more info
