Perez didn't leave a cars width for Alonso. Perez forced Alonso off the track.

I reckon because Alonso could have at least kept two wheels on the track, even though the big yellow curbs was there, he avoided it to suit himself.

I think there was nowhere for Alonso to go. He didn't gain significantly in the sense he was still ahead

Alonso would have got a penalty for causing an avoidable crash had he not got out of the way.

But should Perez be rewarded for a great move?

Exact same situation as Hamilton vs Raikkonen in Spa in 2008.

Alonso did gain an advantage, despite the fact that there was nothing else he could do.

    he should be punched.

TOO aggressive. This kind of approach didn't work for Maldonado in past so it won't work for Perez neither. He will start getting penalties soon if continued like that.

No - I don't think Alonso should have had to give the place back; what else could he do from that position. Perez put them both in a dangerous spot with an overtaking move that really couldn't be done without the other driver bailing out completely.

I don't think Alonso should have given the place back either. Perez is becoming a liability how many near misses has he had with his own team mate this year let alone anyone else.

I wonder would he have tried the same moves in Monaco if the wall was still there at the turn into the chicane.

Also maybe Monaco itself needs to be looked at as to whether or not its still fit for the purpose for F1 racing.

I voted no. There is only a very tight line through that chicane. Alonso was ahead in the breaking zone. Perez should not have tried to under break there. Kimi didn't let him away with it, and rightfully so.

Kimi thinks someone should punch Perez in the face.

He should have been black flagged for both "overtakes"

Quite simply dangerous lunges from too far back.

What is Alonso supposed to do? Stop in the middle of the corner? Keep going and take the two of them out of the race? You cant just magically vanish.

In my opinion, for the alonso move, perez nailed it. He got down the inside, made the corner, and left some room for a car outside him on turn in. At that stage Alonso was beaten and had little option but to cut through the chicane. It doesnt follow that Alonso should keep the place though so I think they were spot on to make him give it back.

What mickdw said. I think perez passed him fair and square and dont see how alonso could keep the place.

The move on button too i felt was good. Got the job done and was one of the rare occasions where you could actually see an F1 car being man handled - heaps of steering lock on and not taking effect until he got off the brakes abit, tyres bite and gets it turned in.
Looked like skillful stuff to me.

I'm going to say no, suppose that wasn't an open chicane but a barrier, What would Alonso have to do then? Alonso would have crashed into the barrier and Perez would have been penalised for the crash.

    This too shall pass.

I would say no, coming out of the tunnel he should have been a nose ahead of Alonso to take him at the chicane.

At the turn in point the passer on the inside should at hte very least have his front wheels in front the lead cars rears. Up to the car behind not to drive into space that isnt there. its not rocket science and amazing that perez is getting off so lightly.

How many of the people saying "no" now agreed with Hamiltons punishment back in 2008?

I don't agree with it because I don't think there was much Alonso could do, but at the same time at least the FIA have been consistent with the ruling.

Think the move on Alonso was okay, he out braked Alonso and made it through the corner. With Kimi, guess you could call that a racing incident, maybe Kimi could have avoided it.

I thought it was a bit tough on Alonso. If he'd kept on going around the corner he'd definitely have t-boned Perez, I guess the only question is could he have braked, let Perez by and still made it aroundthe corner. It was definitely a bit gung-ho certainly by Perez, but that's the only way you can overtake at Monaco. You're either relying on the other guy not fighting too hard, or else you've got a much, much faster car.

Perez to me was just a bit too much on the wild side though, for each good overtake he had one or two times shooting across the chicane.

    To your question, no way!

Perez is one i really don`t like, and i hope he finds himself out of his depth this season....don`t think this will happen but we can hope!
