A friend of mine, fractured his wrist by skateboarding. He had to undergo surgery and the doctor says he has to wear a cast for at least 8 weeks and the leaving cert begins in 2 weeks. Will he have to repeat 6th year? Since there isn't a possibility of him being able to write anytime soon.

He'll have to have a scribe during the exams.

He will have to contact the school first thing tomorrow so they can organise a scribe to write for him.

Tell your friend to get in touch with their principal as soon as possible(tomorrow morning). The department arranges facilities for students who are ill, had an accident, have issues with writing in general etc.

In your friend's case, they can organise a scribe to write the answers down. As in your friend reads the question and answers it to the scribe and they write it down for him.
