Resuming from Standby

Apologies if this has been covered before or if I have posted this in the wrong place. I have set my laptop to enter standby mode after half an hour when running on battery, and never when running on AC power. However, I would like the laptop to resume from standby automatically when the AC adaptor is plugged in.
    Is this possible?
I have tried searching the internet but I have found nothing.
    Thanks

I don't think so. Windows will know when the charger is connected and display the appropriate icon in the notification area. This is not enough to trigger a resume from standby, and in most cases I would imagine that it's not wanted. A tap of the space bar or the power button will bring it back to life. If your application requires you to wake the computer by adding power maybe try this in conjunction with your router on the same power strip. Look into wake on lan and magic packets.

Something you can try, which seems hit or miss as to whether it will work, is:

    Run Command Prompt as Administrator
Type: Powercfg /deviceenablewake "Microsoft AC Adapter"
If that doesn't work try: Powercfg /deviceenablewake "Microsoft_AC_Adapter"

I keep getting a no permission error so it seems it doesn't work for everyone but it is an avenue to explore.

If you go into your Device Manager > Click on Batteries > Double Click on the AC Adapter. Does it give you a Power Management Tab on the window that pops up? You might be able to do it from there either.
