So as the title says, the brake pads on my car are wearing down unevenly, the right one has a decent amount left on it and the left pad has about 3/4 mm left on it

I have new pads to be fitted asap but I just want to know what's caused this?

Car is a 01 Opel astra

Are you saying that the pads on the left wheel have worn faster than those on the right, or are you saying that one pad has worn faster than the other on one particular wheel?

Yeah, the ones on the left are worn down more than the right, significantly worn down at that

Could be that the caliper is sticking.

Jack up that wheel and see if it rotates as freely as the opposite one.

Check also for any damage on the disc surface.

Have done, it rotates but there's a grinding noise coming from it, i checked the disks for damage and i can't see any

If there's grinding then one of the pads (at least) must be down to the steel backing and this must be in contact with the disc.

The grinding isn't just coming from something caught there?

The sliders need to be stripped and cleaned and then lubricated. I think opel do a kit for them.

As far as I know there's nothing in there, and from what I can see theres still a bit of pad left

How much would that set me back?
