I'm a public servant working in the education sector. According to the current proposals my pay will be cut by X percent.

I have never been a member of a union. However, now seems like a good time to join. I wonder whether it would make sense to join SIPTU?

If I did would I get the benefits of the Haddington deal?

    If I'm a non-union member what happens?

This may seem naive, but I am not Irish, and don't quite understand how it works.

    Thanks
    Jack
