Seen plenty of lads using old steel baths for watering cattle so took the plunge:rolleyes: and invested in a couple for e15 apiece.

Intention is to connect up to 3/4" HG pipe but not sure what fittings I need for the balcock.

    Anyone done this already.

I used the core of a used grinder disc. The ballcock shaft fits through. One each side of the opening, then tighten the two nuts in the shaft onto them. Not pretty but functional.
Ensure you protect the ballcock from cattle. They seem to have a passion for breaking them if they get at them at all.

    Excellent, thanks bbam:)

Think I'll slide the bath under the electric fence to protect the valve.

Another way to make a hole in the side is scrape off some enamel with a grinder then burn a hole(with welder) just big enough for the ballcock stem to pass through. As said above you need to protect the ballcock, can be done by drilling the rim of the bath and bolting a few bars across the bath over the ballcock.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Have a few baths. If i was doing it again i would put the ballcock at the bottom and use a floating ball. You know the type that is on a string sort of thing

Handy though to pull the plug when they use it as a toilet:D

Do you mean cut another hole below the overflow at the bottom?

Yes chemical metal in the plug and overflow and then bore hole in side of bath. I put the hole in the middle as it is nice and flat but i put it at the top. But if i was doing it again i would go for a bottom fill ballcock
