Personally I'd stay in the Guards.

I'm surprised, as an Irish man working in The London Met Police I'm always bumping into Irish born bobbies, I'd even estimate there is hundreds of us here in the Uk . Irish born cops transferring to Norther Ireland is advantageous for numerous reasons , after 15 years away from home it will be nice to just pop down the road to see family & friends to name but one.
    Be safe

Good luck with it mate. I thought about going from AGS to PSNI even going so far as to print out the form because it was the first time id seen ROI transferees included. The future is bright and I wouldnt rule out the move sometime in the future. I did the Patten exchange and was impressed by the force.

I'd love to come back to the Guards.
