so I'm in my (god help me) late thirties and have never properly thought about the products I put on my face..........where should I go to get a professional to tell me exactly what moisturiser, foundation, colours, etc I should use...........I don't want to rock up to a concession in the likes of Debenhams, as they'll only want to sell the products they have - I want a whole face thing......is this something that Boots do - or has anyone got any recommendations??

For skincare you are better off going to a salon where they do a professional skin analysis and address all skin conditions, if your in Dublin there is probably a few good facialists around. For your late 30's look into creams with retinol & vitamin E & C.I would get your skincare from a skincare brand not a make-up brand too e.g Chanel. Environ, Skinceuticals Perricone Md are all good science led skincare.

For make-up I don't see the harm in trying any high street make-up counter, Bobbi Brown & Estée Lauder are two good ones

Just to add Bespoke Beauty owned by Elaine Butler Doolin might be a ace to start- she seems highly regarded in the industry- you could book in for a facial with her. With the make-up counters you usually have to buy two products to get your make up done.
