My mother picked up a car the beginning of February. She traded in her old one to the dealership and said she signed a form handing over ownership to the dealership, she doesn't know where she left her copy.
She got a tax reminder in the door yesterday and I jumped online and the ownership of her old car hasn't changed in the last 3 months.
Rang the dealer today and was fobbed off with an excuse the dealer I dealt with is with a customer.
Obviously I never received a call back which I was promised....

Is there any chance that her old car hasn't been sold yet?

She maybe able to ring the DOE in Shannon and inform them that she is no longer the owner of the car. They may be able to make a note of it on their system.

Yea not likely to have sold but regardless it shouldn't be in her name. They should of sent off the rf105 and the ownership would of transferred to the dealership?
I'm almost inclined to send the tax reminder back with a note saying it's been destroyed, I won't but I'd like to.

This happened me, I was getting parking fines from a carpark in Wicklow(I live in Waterford) I phoned the garage, they said they would sort it. Kept getting letters - I kept phoning the garage. Ended up getting a solicitor letter so I went crazy at the garage and sent a letter to the DOT. I never heard a thing afterwards and the ownership has been changed. That garage have since closed down

Apply for a new VLC (€12).
Fill in dealers detail and back date it, post it off yourself.
