Shouldn't have needed to chase him for 15 minutes. Needs to do more speed work. A few 800m repeats should do the trick.

Ah! But if you wear him down he won't put up much of a fight when you do catch up with him. If you catch up with him after 200m he might have a lot more fight in him to resist.
