Yep, they built the technology to travel light years, flew all the way here, thought "lets stand a few rocks up" and went home. All in all it was a pretty sh!t holiday.

It's a graphic suggesting that Easter Island is the head in a trans-earth body where Stone henge are the toes.

    What's not to get?

Yeah, a point perpendicular to another point on the sphere has things sticking out of it. Hardly much of a co-incidence.

Surely legs sticking out of the ground in Stonehenge would be more convincing.

It doesn't even make sense. The opposite side of the world to Easter Island is somewhere along the Indian - Pakistan border... so unless the guy has a bad case of scoliosis. It's shoddy shoddy work

    Stonehenge is located at 51.17888 N 1.826219 W

The opposite side of the world is 51.17888 S 178.173781 W

There is no landmass located at those coordinates!

The opposite side of the world to Easter Island is Rajasthan in India!

    That image is a lie!

    Stonehenge is about 51 N 2 W, so directly opposite it would be 51 S 178 W. Easter is 27 S 109 W, so nowhere near.

When I first opened that image alarm bells immediately began to ring.

The creator made the amateur and down right disgraceful mistake of depicting the Earth as a perfect sphere.

The effects of the planets rotation means that the globe is flattened at the poles and "bulges" at the equator.

As a result a better approximation of the Earth's shape is an oblate spheroid.

If the OP had provided the image thus, a subtle but important adjustment, he may have fooled more people, instead his rookie mistake has made him a laughing stock and a disgrace to geography!
