Buying Film

So I got a film camera last week; a Minolta Dynax 5000i. I went into a camera shop today (the one near the ilac centre) to see about getting a battery and some film. The battery was a 2-CR5 and it cost €15 which seemed fair enough. However, they were charging €15 for 1 roll of 35mm film. Is that expensive? To me, it seems very expensive considering that film is almost obsolete.

as far asi know that particular shop is way more expensive than Gunn's, Conn's or Bermingham's....

for film i think Gunn's may be the best, also the camera shop on George's street is very good too, especially for film stuff

You're not wrong, that is ridiculously expensive. For both the film and the battery. You can get both much cheaper online.

    Check out http://www.thephotoshop.ie/ for film.

    And http://www.batterycity.ie/ for batteries.

Thanks for the replies. Going away on Tuesday so would be risky ordering online. I might head up to the shop on George's street and see what their prices are like

conns is good for film if you buy 5 rolls they give a discount. They often have specials on stock they are trying to get rid of. Check their website. I'd rather buy in gunnes the but they couldn't never match the price for me.

i've been in gunns several times (albeit not in the last year or two) where they were selling expired rolls for €1.50 each, i think.

I went into Berminghams today and got 2 rolls of B&W 35mm for €5.50 each and a roll of B&W 120mm for €5. I can't believe I was about to pay €15 for one roll in the other place!
