We just got upgraded this morning and had 2 technicians onsite. The rollout is going pretty slow and they Tech told me he's getting to 4 Clients / day (based in Galway).

We are 180 Meters from the cabinet and their testing showed 50 Mbit down and 20 Mbit up.

Our own testing is showing the following:

thats weird upload speed but who cares, ping looks ok at 32. Your speed should increase later on as it appears eircom are holding back on the 70mb at the moment. at 180m you should get 50 down and 20up so bide your time.

    Yeah + he's only gett 10mb up...not 20
    At 180m you'd think he'd get 70mb down....maybe line conditions?

Wanna post some pings to google.ie and boards.ie?
Wired up to the router is the most accurate.

Is this fibre direct into your home with a special fibre modem or is it fibre to the cabinet and DSL the last few hundred metres? Is a new modem required?

FTTC with VDSL and a new modem.

If you get a minute could you confirm if you are testing on wifi or directly connected to the modem. If you could also ping www.rte.ie and www.boards.ie

    go to start
then in the search programs and files box type cmd and enter
then in that window (black window) type ping www.rte.ie and enter
by clicking in the top left of that window you can "select all" of the text,
and paste it into a message for boards

If you have the time ;)

What do they actually do? are there any wiring changes at all, what is the impact on existing wiring/extensions?

Got an E-Fiber F1000 modem this morning. I've worked with communications for years and it's obvious to me that they have removed port forwarding from the firmware, does any one have a solution? I've postponed the upgrade to fiber for a few weeks, but I'll have to cancel if I can't port forward. Would anther modem be the answer?

I don't use it but isn't it under "Network Settings" then "Nat"?

How about you have a look through the forum? Full thread on the F1000 modem.

Here - I've used the search function in the Forum Tools - http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/download/zyxel/eircom_F1000.pdf
