Hi all, maybe this has been discussed before. I was wondering if I brought my SD Card (512mb) to a camera shop to recover pictures I deleted in the past how far back/how many photos it would recover? are all photographs taken still retriveable on any memory card? would I still get the first photos I took on it a year ago?

my camera was taken and was wondering if whoever took it can get back old photos that were on it if they desired? there was pics on it when it was taken but I was wondering if every photo I took in the past would still be on it if they were to use recovery programmes? Just personal pics on it that I'd feel weird a stranger looking through.

depending on the software used a lot of the previously deleted and in some cases previously formatted cards can have images recovered.

I've used software which recovered images taken several weeks previous - despite daily usage of the card, an 4gb card recovered over 4000images.

I've also used software which has difficulty recovering images which were just deleted.

So the quality of the software used and the quality of the card can allow for good recovery of images.

YES - is the answer - but its unlikely that someone would do this unless they know you or know that the camera is belonging to you (and you are famous) ;) ...are you famous ?

Well if you really think that someone will try to recover pics from your card...simply don't give it to them :) or format on pc 3 times.there is no software created to recover data after it was written over 3 times or more.even write data once and you can be in trouble...

Any data that has been written over by new images is almost certainly gone. If you format the card and only take a few shots then there will be an amount recoverable from memory with some loss to data corruption and partial overwrite.
