Could anybody tell me what salaries a inbound collections & ASU restructure agent may earn. I'm currently being put forward for both roles by a recruitment agent. These jobs are also being advertised directly on KBC's website. If there's a difference in the salary I'd rather apply directly than lining some recruitment agents pocket! Thanks!

That's not usually how things work - the salary is the salary and the agent gets a commission, sometimes a flat rate or sometimes a % of the gross salary. If the post is being advertised directly and with an agent, probably the salary is the same and the company just accept that should the best candidate be one put forward by the agent then they pay a commission. The commission does not come out of the salary, it is an extra cost to the company in addition to the salary.

If no salary is advertised on the website, then probably they have a salary range they are prepared to pay within and don't want to advertise that so that they can have some flexibility. Of course, any savvy minded business is going to try to get the best person for the lowest salary they can realistically give.

Your recruitment agent should at least know what the salary range is, it would be unusual that they wouldn't, so ask them.

If you know you have a solid and impressive CV, I would recommend applying directly, as in my experience often the agent actually does you a disservice. We got some CV's in recently which were obviously reformatted by the agent, and they were dire. I have no way of knowing if the formatting errors were the fault of the candidate or the agent, so I am reluctant to dismiss them outright. But by god, the state of the applications some agents sent in! I doubt all the candidates did such a bad job themselves. So if you have a well presented and impressive CV and cover letter apply direct - at least that way you know exactly what the company is getting. If you don't get an interview then you at least will know that for whatever reason your application was lacking. If the agent butchers your CV you won't even know about it.

Hi sorry to raise the dead, but I've passed the telephone and online interview stages for this role and have an interview on Monday. Does anyone know the going rate for this position or similar? Just so I can negotiate at the interview. Cheers

Never negotiate salary in an interview. That is a separate discussion for a different time. You should have been given some salary indication by the agent.

Look up some salary surveys on the recruitment websites to get an idea of the market rates. Dublin pays a premium due to expense of living there so don't underestimate that.

If they push on salary rates, some interviewers will do this to see how you react, the response is "I expect the remuneration to be inline with the current market and my experience, The indications I have been given by the agent suggest that is the case" Little joke if needed "You can always give me more holiday days in the package"

The interview is to assess you ability and personality not how much money you will take.
