90 euro single filling

I paid 90 e today for a single filling. it took half an hour or more including a bit of pearing down the tooth beside it....just to take rough edges off it.

Back in the day-dental school- it used take a student 2-3 hours to do a single filling....and patients paid for same (Personally as a patient I'd have had be paid to sit in a chair for that long/waste half a day for such basic treatment that could be done far far quicker in a general practice setting)
Compare job to anyone doing any orther job on a regular basis...you do become quicker and more efficient. Time doesn't necessarily equate to slapdash/easy (ref Usain Bolt 100m...takes work& training!)

All dental practices should have a list of their price ranges advertised,& like every other product/service, it's better to ask for a quotation prior to having treatment.

A filling will last on average 4-10 years. So pretty good value for somehting you can chew with every day. Never penalise a dentist for being fast so long as the filling is good quality, pain fee and looks good.

I had a "deep" filling cost e80 in Wicklow.Must check [EMAIL="dentist@s"]dentist's[/EMAIL] price list in waiting room next time.I was expecting about 60 as dentist has been reasonable in the past.Its a matter of trust as well-getting a good job done with as little pain as poss

You cannot compare the price of a filling between patients as you simply dont know the size of the filling, time it took or the dentists charging criteria.

Its like saying you filled you cars tank with petrol for 80 euro. Well how bigs the tank, how much petrol did you have in it already, how much was the petrol, where was the station etc......

I find it strange when people start grumbling over the price of a filling .
Be thankful that you only need a filling and not more serious work like a root canal ,then you will get a shock ,how about 800 euro for 2 hours work,now thats expensive.

I got hit with €100 for a check up/consultation in south Dublin about six years ago, so ever since then I have travelled to Belfast for my dental treatment, which is about a third cheaper than here. Journey time/train fares are a lot of hassle though.

€90 appears to be fairly standard for a filling. Personally I would not look down someones's throat for €90 . It can be a dog of a job after years and years at University. Dentists earn their money, have high overheads ,equipment, premises, staff and so on . €90 seems about right to me:)

Root canal treatment is very specialised work. €800 seems reasonable, however it is impossible to compare the work involved in individual cases.:)

So treatment is 1/3 cheaper. So your 100 euro is 66 euro. Train fair is 44 (33 if your a student) euro, day off works is god knows how much. Bargain.
