Scanning old pictures

I'm not sure if that's the right forum. If not mods please move.

I realised recently that I have between 15,000 and 20,000 old pictures mostly from 80's and 90's, but some of them even from beginning of previous century.
    They are all family photos.

I'd like to have them all scanned and keep them as JPG's.

Is there any way to scan such a big amount of pictures in home without spending a year doing so?

I was thinking about some scanner with automatic feed which would just go through pictures one by one and save them as JPGs, so generally with such thing I could scan all my pictures within few evenings.

Do such devices exist, and if so how much they cost?

Or maybe someone has any other ideas how to get all my pictures scanned?

As far as I know this crowd offer bulk scanning of prints to cd, but I have no idea of cost. Might be something to look into.

Hmm. I'm sure there are companies offering that kind of service, but I think that with up to 20,000 pictures price might be the killer here. That's why I'd prefer to do it myself if I could find adequate device.

Also all the pictures in my home country which is far from Ireland - so I can't bring them here anyway.

I (360-dpi) use a kodak bulk print scanner

    they make 2, ps810 and ps410

basically the difference is speed and volume

but to tell you the truth the issue is if you stick a bunch of pics in the feeder they all stick together and misfeed

so i tend to feed one by one, but its not big deal

the scanners cost from about 2k, most bulk scanners are designed for document scanning, not picture scanning.
