1993 Raleigh Elan in very good condition. Lives indoors, and has for all it's life.
14 speed Shimano Exage 300. 52 & 40 (Biopace) up front. I have a couple of cassettes for it. Saddle is Selle XO but I have the original as well. Changed the brake levers, but again I have the originals.
    Reynolds 501 steel frame.
Size is 56cm. I'm 6ft and it's spot on for me.
    €250 ono

Will put recent photos up tomorrow but here's one from a few months back. Original wheels are back on it now so it does look a little bit different.

Have you any interest in trading at all ? I'm trying to find something to replace my Giant Escape 3 (2013) flat bar with an older style road bike.

Mind you, if I could sell the Giant otherwise I'd be interested.

Interested anyway. Where are you living? (Cork here)

Hi. I'm living in North County Dublin. Can't trade as I need to free up space. At the moment I have 5 complete bikes in my TV room and need to either bring it down to four or get a smaller telly.

Fair enough, I'd still be interested though. Currently out of action with a dislocated collarbone so using the time to try and swap out the commuter.

You said it would come with the original wheels, do you have an updated pic for that?

I'll be home this evening and will take and post a new pic.
There are some pictures of it with original wheels in an old post here to give you an idea in the meantime.

The Raleigh decals have dried out and flaked off since that was taken though.

Excellent cheers. I've made my Giant available to my friends/family first, might be throwing it up here or on donedeal/adverts later myself.

Gorgeous bike, would love it if it were a 4-6cm smaller!

Late home from work this evening and ran out of daylight. Will take pictures after work tomorrow. Should be home earlier than today.

Take your time. If the components shown in the first photo and mentioned are the same, with the wheels the ones from the older photo, I can pretty much piece it together anyway. :) It's a gorgeous setup.

I'll make a preliminary offer of €200 btw. I'm going to have to pay for petrol for the trip up and down.

I took some fresh photos today. Apologies for the image quality. Old camera and poor light.

    255610.JPG
    Cat not included.

    255612.JPG
Nice badges those Raleighs used to have.

    255613.JPG
Made in England. Those specks of tar are Irish though.

    255614.JPG
Original Biopace cranks. 52/40. Could do with a bit of a clean but in great shape for 20 years old.

I'm including the following original parts: Bottle holder, reflectors and holders and saddle. I also have the original cassette and chain. I swapped them out to get a better ratio for hills. They're used but have life left in them yet. There are new & unused tyres (Michelin Lithion) on it.

Edit: Also I have put back on the original platform pedals as can be seen in the pics.

Looks just about as I imagined so. You've kept it in fantastic shape.

Let me know if you're open to the offer (there's wiggle room here), and also when you'd want to sell by.

I couldn't let it go for that I'm afraid. As for timescale, I'm not in any huge rush to sell. I need the space but could put it in the attic if needs be, so no great hurry.

About the condition of the bike... It may be 20 years old, but it has only been used for 1 of those years. I bought it new but never got into cycling. I kept it in a spare bedroom until a neighbour mentioned he was looking for a bike. I sold it to him. Late 2011 he swapped it back to me having kept it unused in a bedroom himself. I used it to commute exactly 7,034km since then. So it hasn't had a lot of use. Both ends of my commute the bike was kept indoors.
It has a few marks as you would expect, but is in really great condition for a 20 year old bike. One thing I noticed while looking at it today is that the rear wheel (Alesa Steel rim) needs to be trued. It's not badly out, but could do with a tweak. That's about it.

Alright, I'll meet your asking price then!

I'll have to figure out when I can plan to take the trip up. Dependent on my gf for the car, but likely to be soon enough, maybe a week or so?

Accepted. A week or so is no problem. Will PM you my details.

Edit: I sent a PM. If you didn't get it (I'm not sure what postcount is needed to receive PMs) let me know here and we can figure something out.

Hi, Just wondering is this bike still available?

Had my lovely Raleigh Elan stolen from my shed recently and looking for something similar?
