Friend of mine looking to join a club in Cork and has it narrowed down to Cobh, Lee Valley and Blarney

All seem to have good prices at the moment, some with bar credit etc

Which would people recommend? The location isnt really an issue

    Thanks in advance

Member in Blarney as it is only 10 mins from work and 10 mins from home but if I was living close enough, I would choose Lee Valley for the course! Cobh is a nice track aswell but a little hilly on the front 9, expect it to get very good in the future!

You get gym and pool with Blarney aswell.

Blarney is €100 a month but you get good extras. €20 credit for the bar where the food is very nice. Plus membership of the gym & swimming pool which are both really good. I'm a member and find for €100 I get great value. If you use the gym it's a big plus as I was paying €550 for gym membership a couple years ago plus golf membership. So this deal really suited me.
Also the course is in super condition, improvements which were needed have been carried out. New roller for the greens has made a big difference

Can't speak for Lee Valley or Cobh and what they have to offer. But as courses I'd rate Lee Valley much better.

Last few times I've played there the bar has been closed, which s a real shame as the veranda is the business.
Played there today and the greens were like concrete, very hard to hold them with the drying wind and I assume the new roller?
I'd gladly pay 100 a month for the set-up there though, fine track and facilities, and haven't even seen the gym.
Lee Valley is a nicer track, or dog-leg city as I've heard it called!

It would be Lee Valley all day long for me anyway if price / location isn't an issue ?

well i think lee valley is 92 per month direct debit which isnt too bad? I know Blarney is cheaper and gives the gym etc

    any thoughts on cobh?

Think Cobh is €70 per month but what would put me off is how exposed the course is. The winds there seem to be crazy. Think it will be a good course in time but needs a few years to mature a little

true - ive played there a few times myself and been blown out of it, but I do enjoy the course layout

Green fees in Cobh are quiet expensive so definitely worth joining at 70 euro a month if planning to play there even once a week. 20 euro is the cheapest before 10am week days. 25-30 rest of week & at weekends

Anyone know how much green fees in Lee Valley are?doesnt say anything on the website

My own preference would be Cobh, some great holes but a little on the hilly side,it has very challenging greens that really make you think about your approach shots. The greens in Lee Valley are among the best in Cork but the course has a few too many doglegs for my liking but that just a personal preference. Apparently Lee Valley has an extremely busy time sheet too (as has Cobh). I never took to Blarney, I always liked the look of it but never played well there.

even as a member - would you be struggling to get tee times in Cobh/Lee Valley?

Currently not like that in Blarney, hard to get out on the early times on the weekend alright but in saying that you can get out any day within a half hour of when you want really!

Cobh is similar. The early weekend times get taken quickly but it usually ok outside of that.

Good deal in Blarney for 18-23 year olds
