You need a solicitor to attend a barrister, although sometimes a para-legal form a firm will do it but only once the barrister has been instructed. Unless it's a very serious matter you are only likely to get a junior counsel, although that's usually somewhat of a misnomer as they may have been in practice of years. (c/s in practise can never remember!)

Yin practice of years. (c/s in practise can never remember!)

    In practice.
    His practice.
    Practising.
He will be able to practise.

    s - verb.
    c - noun.

I'm not saying you're wrong as I'm wrong myself more often than I'm right but my understanding is you need a properly qualified solicitor to instruct a barrister, one who is fully insured (e.g. employed). New quals are likely to be employed by a firm and on their best behaviour; I would have thought nixers uncommon.

Depending on the matter surely its worth investing the money in defending it properly? If you can't afford a solicitor is legal aid not an option? A barrister will also be provided on legal aid if required, which seems to be the majority of the time.

This is not a for sale site and this sort of thread is not allowed. You need to seek the advice of professionals and you need to do so in the meat world, not on the internet where you have no guarantee what sort of muppet is PMing you their details. Go to a reputable firm of solicitors that is local to you.
