Replacing Sky Hd Box

We've got an Amstrad DRX 890 box, its a bit contrary, same time last year we had problems with the box, going to amber light and not powering on, having to reset the whole box to get it to turn on, its starting to do it now again, so does anyone know what our options are with Sky, I'm presuming it will most likely cost us a lot of money to get them to replace the box, can second hand boxes be bought or would it be worth replacing the hard drive in the SKy Box??

Call SKY, tell them you want to leave, they will put you onto cancellations, tell them the box is broken and you can't afford to replace it so you are cancelling your subscription, they will send you a new box. If they don't take the bait randomly hang up and try again.

We're in a contract with them until september, we threatened to cancel last september and they gave us 6 months discounted!

If you say you are leaving and why, they will prob send you a free replacement box. You could prob even get a better deal price wise if you agree to sign up to 12 more months. Failing all of that, you can buy a second hand box from adverts or donedeal and swap the card around. You'll need to ring sky and they will talk you through the steps of pairing the card to the new box.
