John Creedon's show last night...

I heard a brilliant folk song on John Creedon's show last night. Seemed to be a soldier or emigrant writing to his family. Addresses his father, then mother, then sister. I thought I caught the name of it, but it has deserted me. 'South' could have been in the title!

Can anyone help me out? It was brilliant.

Creedon is a gem. A cultural genius and a music super brain. Such a likeable character.

I always thought that John Creedon did his show from cork and then was told no he did it from Dublin. It is done from cork though isn't it ?

Ah but Cork is only 2.5 hours from Dublin now whichever way you go.

    Yes it is Cork!

Thank Christ for that. So it was John Creedon I saw on Patrick's street this week then.

That is an excellent song to be fair - will be in Kilkelly shortly in the wild west...

Has to be said also that enjoy listening to the Creedon show - he based in Cork and would suspect that the only time he would be in Dublin would be for the Farmers Xmas shopping day : )

The irony of how good quality new music is only found on RTE 1 shows such as John Creedon or Cathal Shannon and not on 2FM will never ever be lost on me :)

Who is Cathal Shannon? I assume you mean Cathal Murray and not the late Cathal O' Shannon.
