    Hi
I am looking at a car and it has no NCT (owner is an OAP and hasn't put it for one its over 2 years out of date). If I buy it and show I'm the new owner will the NCT have to be back dated or will they just let me as the new owner carry it from that date on?
    thanks

The NCT is dated from the anniversary of the registration of the car, irrespective of when you purchase and test it. So if you buy a car today that was first registered on Jan 1st 2005 and is out of NCT, and you put it through the test then you will get a cert that is valid until Jan 1st 2015.

Probably easiest for you to tell us the due date first.

You'll get either March 2014 or March 2015 so, depending on whether the car is over 10 years old.
