Has anyone on here ever been? I'm led to believe it's the "Ibiza of the Caucausas" but with lots of sites to see and things to do.......seemingly very popular with Ukrainians and Russians alike. Which is perfect for me and my buddies :pac:

I'm basically looking at how to get there - i've seen it said on tripadvior that flying Wizzair via Katowice is the cheapest/most direct route?

Also would it be better to rent an apartment for a week rather than stay in a hotel?

Not expecting a response as i know it's a destination few if indeed any people on here will have been to. But any replies or advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Never been there, but if the clientele are anything like the Russians and Ukranians that visit the Bulgarian Black Sea I wouldn't be rushing there. Pretty girls, but unapproachable and mafia type fellas with sunglasses on at night time. Wouldn't appeal to me anyway. And I would imagine it would be expensive.

Odessa has been on my to do list for a long time and I've done a fair bit of research on the place.

There appear to be 2 very distinct camps when it comes to the place.

One camp full if praise for its night life, full of things to do, fantastic beaches, great shopping and great weather.

The other camp classes it as tacky, over priced, rude arrogant people and completely believing in its own hype as being the "Paris of the East".

It really depends on what you're looking for I suppose. But don't expect cheap n cheerful.

There is a LOT of new money in Russia and the Ukraine, there are a lot of people who want to show off their money and there are a lot of people and businesses who want to relieve them of that money..

My advice, do your research and do it well. If you do go there, go with an open mind and don't expect these tall blonde long legged Russian and Ukrainian beauties to be falling all over you just cause you're Western European. :D
