Using Condensing Boiler to heat water during summer

We have a condensing gas fired boiler (a Baxi Solo to be exact) in our kitchen which heats rads and water. Now that it's summer (almost!), we've turned the rads off but the water temperature has dropped considerably.

We left one rad on last year (the bathroom one) and that seemed to solve it, but that's not working this year.

    Where are we going wrong?

Did the system ever work correctly before or is it a recent installation?
How do you turn the rads off, by a switch, a lever valve or each one individually?
Pictures of the pipes in the hot press aroind the cylinder might help shed some light on the problem.
