TRACTOR - SOME ADVICE WANTED

    My JD 2130 was sitting outside for a while and tried first if I could turn it in at the fanbelt/crankshaft but no go so I took out the starter and turned it with a 3ft bar, eventually got it to turn but it very difficult to move it and stiff…I know that the starter even though it a new one would be wrecked if I put it back on and tried to start it with it

    What should I do

    seen a similar thing happen with a neighbours tractor years ago, it had filled the cylinders with water that came in through the exhaust pipe, undo the injectors and give her a turn by hand if it is water thats in there it should come out, if the pressure releases spin her with the starter to get all of the water out, a drop of oil in the bores wouldnt go astray afterwards

    Someone said that these john deere injectors are very fragile and will probably break when trying to get them out

    I am not a mechanic so i cant help you on that one,ideally get advice from a jd mechanic if you feel its going to be a problem to remove an injector, dont tow it if its locked up as you will bend the conrods or shear a half shaft ..the neighbours tractor was a davy brown we didnt have any issues removing the injectors and she fired up and has run for years since the episode.

    A similar problem happened years ago to us on a Fordson Dexta, except what happened there was that there was a fuel tap that we didnt know about that should have been closed when not in use.So over time when she was not used, the fuel gradually seeped into the engine and locked it up.It was cleared by bump starting it down a nearby hill.The driver got a bellyfull of diesel though.

    Thinking about it now,I dont know why it didnt bend the conrods by doing this.In hindsight, it would have been better to loosen the injector pipes and leave the fuel flow out.

    waterpump seems to be seized too as cant turn the fan blade by hand, any suggestions

    remove the exhaust manifold and use a large socket and ratchet to turn the bottom pulley wheel back and forward gaining a small bit each time. you will see any water thats in the cylinders push out the side of the engine. once you have it turning full turns you can pour some diesel into the cylinder to free it up a bit but be sure to get as much out as you can once its relatively free.
    change the water pump as it will be beyond economical repair.
    with the manifold still off turn over the engine a few times to blow out any remaining water and diesel. Re-fit the manifold and hopefully it should start.

    If it cant be free'd up by hand its time to strip it down and check the bores. maybe
    just a good polish would suffice but might be new liners and rings!

    It workied for me on a ford 4000......ended up stripping it down anyway as the compression was low. Starts first time now even when its been sitting for 3 months during cold weather.
