Any limousin experts who would settle a query.

I have a bullock who recently (about 6/8 weeks ago) has started to develop a red tinge / colouring on his belly. He is a black limousin and was always as black as the rest of the herd.
I also have a few red limousin but these are completely red.

This fellow is happy out, same weight as the others, 22 months old and triving well, but just has a orangey red tinge and he looks a bit odd against the rest especially when the sun shines on him

Neighbour says he is lacking in 'copper' and needs a dose but I never had a copper deficiency before.
I believe it's his breeding but not sure??

Will post a photo from my phone later - when I figure out how!

Copper lacking. Neighbour correct. Individual animals can just show it up more than others in same herd / land.

Thanks for that, we never had a Copper deficiency on our land before and its only the one bullock and he is thriving well.
I was able to get the photo up so your can see what I am talking about :D

I'll give him a shot anyway cant do any harm

what you giving him a shot of?

funny now that ye say that,

I have one animal so that I could say has a lack in copper. .

but how would you know if red limousin was lacking? or a charolis?

and even if he is black, I always thought that was his coat of hair?

that bullock doesn't seems to be lacking in much

a good few of our bulling heifers have a brownish tinge this year, they are on target weight and going in calf so I'm not too pushed

on a side note I see the ewes are a bit more colourful also, and some lambs starting on scaly ears, done the lambs with cobalt to day will cover the ewes nearer breeding

We have a few like this. LMX and HEX heifers.
As said before they are doing well and gaining weight. My dad would always be out with the copper injection I he saw this.

Is there any reason I should act if they are doing well?

I had some easitrace copper tablets in the shed so put them in the drinker to see if that would do the trick.

Am I right in thinking that apart from the redish tinge, a generally dull coat, with a hard dry coarse feel to it, is also an indication of low copper?

Would that work? Copper tablets in the drinking trough?
