Gum slightly pushed up during hygienist visit?

Strange one this and more than likely an over-reaction on my part.. but was at the hygienist today, and all went smoothly, but during the polish I got the impression that the instrument slipped and the brush with the polish paste slightly pushed my gum on one of my front teeth upwards.

Now it's not enough to be really noticeable but I can feel the difference in the gumline between my front-left and front-right tooth with my tongue.

Just curious if this will return to normal? It's not recession persé.. and while it doesn't bother me too much, it's probably just the fact that it's freshly polished.

    Thanks in advance.

You are imagining it. It's simply impossible for a prophy brush/cup ( instrument the hygienist used) to cause the gum tissue to migrate from its original position. My guess is you had a slight bit of recession there anyway but never noticed it before,

Yeah, you're probably right to be honest. I did definitely feel a little slip of the instrument on that tooth so probably that's why I'm becoming overly aware of it now.

Agreed, a prophy cup is no more traumatic than a tooth brush. It should penetrate just under the gums to polish under there. If you gum were inflamed before the cleaning then when it resolves it might receed.
