Hi folks. A few of us in Waterford (Sonic Arts Waterford) have come together to try and get a small but tasty experimental electronic music and arts festival running for the 20 - 22 September 2013. The event will form part of a cross cultural exchange. In my case, I've just returned from performing in Gdansk, Poland for Museum Night (similar to Culture Night in Ireland but on a larger scale). We already have 2 international artists who have signed up so that's a start.

At the moment we have almost no funding but that should change somewhat over the coming month or so. This is the first edition of the festival but we really feel an event that focusses mostly on experimental and ambient electronic music has a future. Obviously we'll have some more mainstream original electronic music for the late night events but it won't be a dance music festival in any way.

if you know someone locally or internationally who might be interested in taking part whether they create and perform music or work with electronic visual arts then we'd like to hear from them. Or please feel free to spread the word. It's all voluntary at our end so go easy on us and advice is welcome :)

Web site is also in early stages but being worked on: http://www.sonicartswaterford.com
Face Book Group is already active: https://www.facebook.com/SonicArtsWaterford

I'm not a festival promoter but my background of 20+ years is in writing and performing ambient electronic music at events around Europe.
    Many thanks,
    Mick

Many thanks indeed. 6 months work already gone into planning and now starting to see things coming together without too much stress. The main galleries and theatre in Waterford are on board and we are enjoying listening to some fine music from folks around Europe who want to come and enjoy some time in Ireland as well as a few really cool Irish artists who want to help out too. All makes for a great vibe among the folks helping to make it happen.

Still time if anyone reading this would like to be a part of it. Happy to hear from folks both established and those starting out with a few small gigs behind them. It all makes for a nice buzz.

Sonic Arts Waterford are proud to present a short film documentary about our 2013 festival. The film which was expertly created by Keith Currams contains interviews and music and forms part of a much larger film project currently in development. If you like it, then please share on social media and spread the word. Many thanks as any exposure we get builds profile for our voluntary festival.

*yea that's me the guy being interviewed in places and performing briefly who needs a haircut but can't be arsed starting a thread looking for a barber.

Many thanks indeed. Yes for sure we are already well advanced on plans for this year. We have a cultural exchange in place this year with Spaziomusica Festival in Italy which will see 2 Irish artists from SAW 2013 perform in Italy and we'll take 2 top Italian artists for our festival.

We've a headliner confirmed and are working through submissions etc for this year.

If anyone is interested in taking part then check out
