Chinese Kick boxing and wrestling Summer open

    THE ICBA will run our 2nd event of the year this coming weekend.

    The Irish Chinese Boxing Association present our 2nd ranking event of the competitive year for 2013.

    Our Summer Open on this Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of May is the chance for your fighters to add ranking points in order to qualify and gain the top placements in our National Championships in November 2013!

    The Senior divisions (18+ or 16+ with parents and coaches consent) will be held on the Saturday with Sanshou, Qingda (Novice Sanshou) and Tui Shou (Stand up wrestling).

    The Junior divisions (8+ - 17) will be held on the Sunday with a 'novice division 2' for those new to the competitive martial arts. Experienced competitors will compete in Division 1.

    Weekend Time line

    Weigh ins are on the day of the event. Both Senior and Junior events start with registrations and weigh ins at 9am and will close at 9.30. 9.35 is too late to arrive!!!!

    FIRST MATCHES - 10 AM!

    Preliminary rounds of Tui Shou, Sanshou and Qingda will all run at the same time on separate matted areas.

    Depending on numbers during each division, we expect to run the finals rounds in the mid to late afternoon on Saturday and around lunch time on Sunday!

    ICBA COMPETITION INFORMATION

    Sanshou - Full contact (18yrs+ or 16yrs+ with parent and coaches consent)
    2 x 2 minute rounds (extra round if a draw is called)

    Qingda - (18yrs+ or 16yrs+ with parent and coaches consent)
    Novice Sanshou division for seniors 1 x 2 minute round (extra 1 minute if a draw is called)

    Junior Qingda - 2 separate divisions for 8 to 12yrs
    Division 1 - Experienced competitors 1 x 1.5 minute round - normal Sanshou equipment (see below!)
    Division 2 - Novice competitors 1 x 1 minute round - headgear with face mask and normal equipment!

    Teens Qingda - 2 separate divisions for 13 to 17yrs
    Division 1 - Experienced competitors 1 x 2 minute round
    Division 2 - Novice competitors 1 x 1.5 minute round

    Tui Shou - no-jacket chinese stand-up wrestling (Teeshirt and shorts)
    1 x 2 min round, stopped at scores so can last 5+ mins

    Sanshou equipment: 10 oz boxing gloves, hand wraps, headguard, gumshield, shin and instep protectors, groin guard, chest guard.

    * Division 2 junior Qingda competitors will be provided with masked headgear!
    ** Hand wraps are optional for competitors under 12 years.
    Each competitor must provide their own gumshield, hand wraps groin box and shin and instep protectors
    Provided by ICBA - gloves, headgear and chest guard.
    Competitors can wear their own gear once approved by ICBA officials

    Fight uniforms: - Black or red tee-shirt and black or red shorts
