Aluminium grease or copperslip?

    Asking for trouble using a grease to prevent corrosion on a surface that gets as hot as a hub.
    Easy to get grease on the disc with bad results.

    I always use a little smear of copper grease when reassembling parts, make sure it does'nt get on discs, pads etc..

    I've used copper grease with alloys for years and years with no problems at all

    Copperslip is the right way to go, we would always use it where an alloy had seized to the hub. Saves having to get out the rubber Mallet the next time.

    It's made by Fortech, generic white tin. I think Halfords does it but any motor factors should have a similar product. Costs about €10 a tin but lasts ages and ages (even for us). I don't think I have any other pictures of it though but you can see what it looks like, sort of....! :)

    Yeah I'm for the copper stuff too. Handles heat really well.

    Except that copper grease is designed to leave a layer of copper on the surface at high temps.
    If its the centre of the wheel boss to wheel thats corroding then I would use some anti-seize to prevent sticking but the actual hub corroding behind the wheel, just wirebrush it off.
    Actually its good practice to use a wirebrush on the hub to make sure any corrosion doesn't stop the wheel from seating correctly.
