Mechanic Apprenticeship

Not sure where to post this

Hi, I'm planning on going out this week handing CV's to car dealers and garages to try and get an apprenticeship in mechanics as I am and always have been interested in cars!! Although I can't say I know very much about them to begin with, I only know how to drive them and drive them well :-)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if ya have to already know the insides of a car like the back of your hand or can ya go with a blank mind, eager to learn? I pick up things very easy in resect with repairing/fixing things. Disassemble and reassemble things is kinda my thing, finding the problem and see arching the solution and applying the fox is what I do! Now I wanna learn how to apply my skills to cars.....

Any help would be great, I'm afraid most mechanics will turn me down because I dot already know heaps about cars :-/

Was gonna go down this route myself at one stage but was very much turned off it when I saw what the trade is really like. There's not that many apprenticeships going these days either.

Anyone I know who has got one lately has already been working in a garage as a fitter or by work experience through school ect, it gives the garage time to get to know you and to see if you are worth taking on. So yes it probably would be ideal if you did have some basic knowledge beforehand. Nearly all mechanics I've ever talked to though have told me to avoid the trade.
