    Spoilers
The Smackdown broadcast team was introduced. JBL's theme played and I went back to 2004 for a second.

MizTV opened the show with Fandango as special guest. Miz dropped the "you look like a bag of skittles and you're the new fruitty pebbles." Wade Barrett came out talked smack to Fandango and an IC match with Barrett vs Miz was set up...

    1. The Miz defeated Wade Barrett by DQ in an Intercontinental Title match. Fandango was on commentary. I'd love to hear what JBL and Fandango are talking about. Fandango started to dance midway through the match and this led to Fandango interrupting the match. All three ended up in the ring with Barrett standing over them to end this really long segment...

Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter came out for a promo. I'm sitting on the camera side. Enjoy my "Weed The People" sign. Zeb insulted the Cornhusker state...

    2. Daniel Bryan (w/Kane) beat Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter). Bryan won via submission...

    The Raw Rebound was shown...

A suit wearing Damien Sandow was in the ring, where an office table was set up. He had a rope tied in a knot on the table. Shemaus interrupted him. Sheamus and Sandow had words. Sheamus ended up throwing Matt Striker, who was conducting the interview, over the top rope onto Sandow...

    3. Chris Jericho defeated Big Show by count out. Jericho won after Show was knocked over the ringside barricade for the count out...

Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman came out for a promo. The Axel theme song is legit. Paul spoke about Brock Lesnar and C.M. Punk's success and how he will take Axel to the top. Axel spoke about putting Triple H out and accomplishing more than his dad and grandpa and said this was just the beginning. Lots of crickets...

    4. Curtis Axel beat Sin Cara. Axel mania is running wild! There were a few flying spots, but it was otherwise predictable and boring.

    5. Kofi Kingston beat Dean Ambrose by DQ in a U.S. Title match. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns interfered for the DQ. Randy Orton and Sheamus ran out to save Kofi. Teddy Long came out and booked The Shield vs. Orton, Sheamus, and Kingston in a six-man tag. I remember when Orton was cool and so now....I think it was 2009 and Favre was still gun slinging for Powell's Packers....wait. Editor's Note: That's not funny.

    6. The Shield beat Randy Orton, Sheamus, and Kofi Kingston. Dean Ambrose pinned Kofi Kingston clean to win the match. The Shield stood in the ring with the gold in what appeared to be the end of the taping for Friday's television show.

After the cameras stopped filming, Bryan and Kane came out and threw The Shield back inside the ring. Dean Ambrose took an RKO. Sheamus Brogue kicked Seth Rollins, etc. The crowd left happy. Thanks for following along tonight. Check back for an onsite report from the Smackdown taping on Wednesday. ProwWrestling.net

Br.....Bryan got a clean win? Over someone who was in the title match at Mania?

Is it a running in-joke that Teddy Long books tag matches every week?

I fully expect to see a skit of a wrestler walking into Teddy's/Book's Office to find Teddy with his pants down by his ankles with WWE Greatest Tag Teams DVD on the TV.

Reading these reports left me thinking what's next for Jericho?

And where does the Shield go from here?

Am I going loopy, or does it seem like Smackdown! has been injected with a good dose of consequence Post-WM?

I know they are both heels but should the match be Barrett Vs Fandango or between all three

Building towards a triple threat match at Payback I'd say. Barrett seems to be playing a tweener these days almost.

Haven't watched a Smackdown! in full in a while. It really is the b-show now isn't. Long ways from its first 5-6 years when it was great and often eclipsed RAW as the better show during the brand extension.

The Shield main event was a serious barn burner.

Swagger and Bryan had some really cool exchanges too.

Second time in a week. The Shield are making WWE TV must-see these days. Kudos to the writers for putting them together, giving them the spotlight and to the three guys for grabbing the opportunity with both hands.

Didn't get to see the whole show yet, just scanned the Axel part. I liked how he took credit for taking out Triple H and that saying the record books will show him as the winner. Perfect heel actions, bragging about a win he didn't even get!

Looking forward the the Shield now, to be fair that's not just because of the praise, I always look forward to seeing what they do.

Having the tag and US Titles on guys who have become such prominent features of the TV and PPV shows makes those belts ten times more relevant than they have been in years too.

Yeah I missed most the first hour watching a terrible champ league program on ITV.
Main event was real exciting hope Reigns ankle is ok he had an awkward landing on that elbow. The smackdown tapings must take damn all due to the amount of Raw rebounds, which show segments in there entirety.

With regard to the recent focus on the mid-card belts, as soon as SHIELD drop the belts, they go back to being worthless. SHIELD are over, not the belts. WWE book wrestlers in storylines, not titles, if that makes sense. Titles used to have such a strong lineage and focus (where whoever has the gold has the storyline) but it hasn't been like that for many years.

WWE need a kick up the hole. They put things like this from Daniel Bryan together but don't put it on TV and instead we get App and twitter advertisements. NEWSFLASH in 2013 people don't need encouragement to use apps and twitter, the people that use them will use them regardless or promotion - they do need to see things like Bryan explaining himself so we get background to what is seen on the TV and a reason to like/dislike people

Aggressive Bryan was fantastic. The boots to the face and the clean tap over a guy in a "Main" event feud made him look really good.

I need a pack of tissues after that Main Event.

I was sure Bryan was going to shout "He's gonna get his f**king head kicked in" at one point.

Be funny if Teddy had come out and said "it's going to be the Shield against Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton and... Hornswoggle" No one would see that coming.

An actual really enjoyable smack down. Gordian knot to be the name of a new sandow submission finisher :)

Possibly, but it'd just be begging for the opponent to whip out a pair of pliers....or a Brutus Beefcake feud....

    Actually, I'd take that.

Its a total joke that they waste tv time showing crap like Ryback cut a by the numbers promo and Bruce Banner collapsing in an angle people aren't invested in.

But if they're interested in making these apps/web-trinkets anyway viable, wouldn't it make sense that they stick compelling material on it?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,521 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

The Backstage fallout video only has 62 thousand views. Sure, it makes sense to shoot these vidoes for the net, but the Bryan one was so so so much better than the normal stuff they shoot for backstage fallout it was wasted only 'airing' through that.

They had time to edit that into Smackdown, most of the stuff they shoot for backstage fallout is mundane and not worth puttiing on tv.

In this case I am saying if you shoot something awesome make room for it on tv.
