Bought this http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00000190a couple of years ago off a guy on adverts had an old 478 mb/cpu combo in there, now it can take a full size Motherboard and standard cpu cooler and graphic card, I'm looking for recommendations on a cheapish upgrade for this, preferably intel, will probably run windows 7, xbmc and stream movies from pc upstairs needs to be able to do HD audio bitstream via HDMI.

I'd like it to run quite and cool.

I'd say my budget is in or around €200.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

That link does not work so I assume a standard atx board will work and the psu will connect up ok.

    Item|Price
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€53.39
    ASRock B75 Pro3, Sockel 1155, ATX|€67.19
    Intel Pentium G2020 Box, LGA1155|€51.06
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€190.63

8GB RAM is probably over kill, you could drop it to 4

sorry working link there now it can take ATX and Micro ATX boards is this good enough for 1080P video and bitstream hd soundtracks off blu-rays to an amp? Any alternatives to this? How about a separate graphics card? Can pick up a 5450's cheap.
I've never used AMD chips or boards buy willing to have a go.

    Thanks

The intel APU that is included with the CPU is good for 1080p video decoding. The motherboard comes with a HDMI connection so no need to get a dedicated card. That CPU will provide more processing power than you need.

AMD make good CPUs too but for what you need I think the Intel does it best.

any thoughts on a FM2 matx board, plus a A6 5400k cpu, lads on AV forums advising me on going that route, say it will use less power etc.

That CPU will do the the job just as good and cost about the same. It will use less power than the intel while idle but more while under load. Not much in it both are good options for this kind of build.
