Hi I'm having some trouble fitting my RIS to an sr25 receiver (LaRue replica RIS) the problem is the barrel but is not screwing in tight with the body when the barrel is installed due to the extra metal ring around the barrel (picture 4 or 5) but it will without.

The problem seems to be that in the barrel nut after the end of the threads there is a ring of metal to stop it screwing on any further (hopefully understandable from pictures 3/4)

Would my best option be to angle grind the end of the threads on the receiver this making it a shorter distance and will thread on, or to file away the metal ring in the barrel nut? Or any other suggestions?

Thanks very much, pictures may be put up over several posts.
    Thanks for any help.

I think I'm going to file off part of the receiver threads as it seems the best option, One problem I see with this is that if I file the threads at any angle I won't be able to screw the barrel but on properly. Anyone have any opinion on this?
    Cheers
