Hi all, have had a good look through loads of threads but still have a few questions that I hope you won't mind helping with?

I'm guessing Rossfixxxed will reply anyway given the help he seems to have had over recent days ;-)

Got a kanger T2 and 5 20mg liquid samples based on recommendations on here. Currently a 20+ daily B&H smoker. Questions are as follows:

    1. I have no idea what I should expect to go through in a day. Still smoking some fags, but have read on average people go through 3-5 mls juice in a day. Maybe I'm just scared of how much I should be trying, but I filled 2 2.4 ml tanks with 2 different liquids and still have plenty left in both since Friday - more than half. What should I expect to be using to eliminate the need for smokes?

    2. How long can I leave the juice in the tank (is that even the right word!!). Should I be emptying it out and refreshing it? Can I clean the tank and wicks or should I be stocking up and replacing them. I've read vodka can be used to clean, but is that the tank, wick, top or what?

    3. I've a 900 battery. I've read about different voltages making a difference in the amount of vapour? Should I be twisting the battery to get a different amount of vapour? How much do I twist it?

    4. How often do you vape? I've no idea should I have a puff or two every half hour or have 8-10 puffs every half hour. Should I have 20 puffs every hour or so like as if I was just having a smoke?

Appreciate people will just say trial and error, but a few little tips would be great to get me going. Have only had them a couple of days and feel like I'm floundering at the first fence :-) ..

    Thanks all.

It depends on feel. I have a certain amount of time that feels like I'm still a ten-a-day smoker, so I vape that amount. That amount for me is 2.5ml a day but I had to jump to building dual coils vaping 24mg juice. With lower nic juice I felt like I was on 20-30 a day, it never left my mouth.
Whether your throat can take it can depend on what you're used to smoking, but between rollies and whatever else my throat was prepared.

    2. How long can I leave the juice in the tank (is that even the right word!!). Should I be emptying it out and refreshing it? Can I clean the tank and wicks or should I be stocking up and replacing them. I've read vodka can be used to clean, but is that the tank, wick, top or what?
Leave it in as long as the juice tastes okay, it's natural that it'll darken over time through a combination of things but if it tastes okay it's good.
Clean the wick, this has the coil around it and is most of what you need to clean. Clean the tank too if it's manky or you're changing juice.

    3. I've a 900 battery. I've read about different voltages making a difference in the amount of vapour? Should I be twisting the battery to get a different amount of vapour? How much do I twist it?
It has to be an eGo Twist battery to work that way. If you've got a standard ego battery, get atties or replacement heads that measure 1.5 to 2ohms.
    4. How often do you vape? I've no idea should I have a puff or two every half hour or have 8-10 puffs every half hour. Should I have 20 puffs every hour or so like as if I was just having a smoke?
I have 2/3 puffs every 15mins, but if treating it like cig breaks works for others it might work for you. If having a puff every 2-3mins works for you that's fine too. All depends on strength, device, voltage and what you're comfortable with. No right or wrong.
Appreciate people will just say trial and error, but a few little tips would be great to get me going. Have only had them a couple of days and feel like I'm floundering at the first fence :-) ..

    Thanks all.

I found when I started I needed to puff through about a tank and a half a day to take away the need to smoke - comming from smoking 20 Marlborough reds a day - four months on I'd say I'm using about 2 mls a day

    2. How long can I leave the juice in the tank (is that even the right word!!). Should I be emptying it out and refreshing it? Can I clean the tank and wicks or should I be stocking up and replacing them. I've read vodka can be used to clean, but is that the tank, wick, top or what?
A week or two is grand - just keep it out of direct sunlight and somewhere not too hot - the heads can last ages or go after a couple of days - depends on lots of different things such as the type of juice etc - once you have two spair heads at any point you should be sorted

    3. I've a 900 battery. I've read about different voltages making a difference in the amount of vapour? Should I be twisting the battery to get a different amount of vapour? How much do I twist it?
I've found 3.9 to 4v on standard heads to on the kangers to be the best

    4. How often do you vape? I've no idea should I have a puff or two every half hour or have 8-10 puffs every half hour. Should I have 20 puffs every hour or so like as if I was just having a smoke? As much as you need - once you don't go over 2-3 fills a day at 20mg liquid your getting less nicotine than you did with 20 BH - remember to drink water/coffee/tea when you cape as well to stay hydrated. In terms of puffs etc - everyone is different however your not going to have to worry on the number of puffs - just stop puffing when your craving is gone !

Appreciate people will just say trial and error, but a few little tips would be great to get me going. Have only had them a couple of days and feel like I'm floundering at the first fence :-) ..

    Thanks all.

See answers above - its important to give it a chance though - it took two months for me to stop thinking completely about cigarettes - this from smoking 20 a day for over 20 years - I would recommend going cold turkey on the cigarettes though - its hard to adopt a new habit like vaping when there's a old friend sitting there in a familiar box telling you to stop this vaping nonsense :-)

    Thanks both.

Grindle, I don't really know about if the juice tastes ok, cos it just tastes a bit weird so far. But I've only tried 2 juices. So, is a week ok? Is 2 weeks ok, or should I expect to be cleaning it after a few days or so?

Richard/Grindle, ive got a twist. how do I know what 3.9-4v? It's tight to the battery at the moment. How much should I be twisting? Should I just twist it off a couple of mm and then try a drag again and just keep going? The more I loosen the more vape I should expect?

Thanks a lot for the replies!!

Cheers, once I'm comfortable I know what I'm doing, and have the requisite spares at hand I'm planning on giving it a proper go. Just a bit at sea with this at the moment but having read loads of posts and threads on here I'm sure it will work.

It gets a bit technical though... It seems like some on here are building robots!!

At the bottom of the battery there are some barely-legible etchings to line up. 2ohm atty? 4v = good...adjust to taste. Obviously burnt-tasting is bad. Slightly below burnt is a little tasteless for me so I go 0.1 or 0.2v below that. Generally my ideal.

Re: coils - if the juice is a tobacco or a dark or very sweet juice it will kill a coil sooner. With a normal wick (silica) El Toro or Highbrow juices would make me clean the wick every two days at least.
You'll notice a change in taste. In tobaccos the taste will just dull, with sweet juices they'll become flavourlessly sweet, like vaping sugar.
Both will produce noticably less vapour when the coil becomes truly crudded.

Ah deadly, it ranges 3.2 (current setting) to 4.8. I'll have a play round with those settings! Cheers!!

    Hi :D

Just my input, have been vaping for almost 2 months. I also use the T2

    1) I dropped from 35 a day to only 3 a day. And i still have my 3 cigs a day. June 1, i plan to vape exclusively. If you have cut down from 20 then fair play. You're not smoking the other 17. Don't expect to just not smoke cigs at the drop of a hat. Some people do need the time to adjust. Focus on how many cigs you've not smoked since taking up vaping. For me, i smoke 18mg, and about 2ml a day. I do expect it to rise up a little when i cut out the cigs for good. Remember, a cig delivers your nicotine in 8 mins. Vaping delivers in 12 mins. Remember that and hold on!

    2) Up to you! It's a form of the whole "steeping" process. It won't damage the tank or carto!

    3) In my opinion, and i hope it doesn;t confuse you, i find twisting the carto (the thing with the wick) on the t2 helps! Be warned though, too loose and the juice may seep and cause gurgles

    4) I spend a lot of time on the computer, so every 10-15 mins i take a puff. My left hand needs something to do. Also, being at the computer means more boredom = more nicotine. Or more. lol. Always remind yourself that vaping is healthier than actual cigs, so take as much as you feel!

    Enjoy the vaping experience :)

    Hi SicklySweet

A Kanger T2 doesn't have a carto. Carto is short for cartomiser which looks like one of these.

These are cartomisers and they come in various colours and styles like black, white, ciggy like, flanged, dual coil, punched.

The thing on the Kanger T2 I think you're refering to (with the wicks on it) is called a head.

The link above shows some replacement heads (i.e. just the heads on their own.)
