New shower (replacing Triton T90si)

Guys, Looking to get our showing working again. We've had problems with our current shower for many many years (10+) and want to get it sorted.

After a few years we started to notice a burning (fish!?) smell from the main (red) switch mounted outside the en-suite after using the shower. It would get progressively worse over time. Eventually we got an electrician to replace it (I also replaced it myself once) but the issue slowly returned. A second electrician also replaced it a few years back and mentioned that there was not much slack in the wiring if something else had to be done.

Since that last change and for some time before that the shower has been pretty crap. Not very hot (lukewarm at best) and the switch would get hot very quick. Eventually we pretty much stopped using the shower except in emergencies :)

Then ... it just stopped working mid shower. The light on main switch mounted on the wall outside the shower doesn't light up anymore and the shower does nothing.

Six months without a shower and we are ready to sort it out. First off, we want a new shower. Am I right in saying that the Triton T90si was obsoleted by the T90xr and now by the T90z ? Thinking of picking up a T90z.

As for the electrics...would these newer (our T90si was from 2002) showers be more efficient and probably less likely to burn out the switch ?

The T90z has an 8.5kw and 9.5kw model. Is there a big difference between the two ?

Any help would be appreciated. Turning the heat on for baths in this weather is ridiculous :(

Am I right in saying you'd be on your forth isolation switch if and when you replace it for the new shower? Maybe get the sparks to check the supply to ISO switch and do a resistance check on the cabling before your look to your new t90z.

Havent fitted any 9.5kw triton, fitted lots of Mira elite 9.5kw I think there ok, but you can't pass the new z €200 can't go wrong and great backup service if any thing goes wrong.

10yrs outa a si it doesn't owe you anything.

    You'll need 10square cable for a 9.5kw shower while the 8.5kw uses 6.

I'm open to contradiction Billy but with new regs the 8.5kw needs the 10sq supply.

    It's been a bumpy 100 years though :)

How can I check if my current shower is 9.5 or 8.5 ?
