    Has anyone tried one?

Has anyone heard of Lombardo as a make?

Would €1,000 for a 10 speed full Campy Veloce groupset be about right?

I tried asking this question in another thread but without much success. Possibly because the answer is nobody knows!! But I'm hoping it just wasn't seen by people who might be able to offer some insight/ advice.

I haven't heard of the make before and they seem to be new to the market here and in the UK. Only know of the one shop stocking them, but that shop do seem reputable which is the only reason I'm considering buying it.

Anyway, your thoughts would be appreciated!

    No???

Maybe an image or link would help stimulate your senses!

If not, I'll take the hint!

Haven't heard or seen them before but that means nothing :) frame reminds me of something else but can't place it.

For a grand you would get trek 1.5 or Giant Defy

Looks a nice bike. Some reviews http://www.italianbicycles.com.au/review/product/list/id/372/

I'd take it over a Trek or Giant any day.

Looks lovely, might be interesting to have something a little different from everyone else?

Cheers for the replies guys - I was starting to think the bike was just a figment of my imagination!

Yeah, I'm not bothered by brand names so long as the build is good. The place selling it offer 2 years free servicing too which is reassuring in some ways. Not in love with the graphics, but I've seen worse and they're begining to grow on me. Not a deal breaker for me anyway.

The reviews on that aussie website are helpful, thanks. If I do get it I might look into upgrading the wheels when I have the cash. Ditto saddle.

Suppose I should give some feedback after getting some helpful replies!

Ended up buying the bike. Have it about 2 months now. Used it for WAR Glenmalure and Gaelforce West.

Have to say, I'm very happy with it so far. I'm no road bike expert, but for me it does everything you'd want from one - smooth ride, easy handling and gears seem super smooth to me. Handled both adventure races no bother.

I switched the tyres to Gatorskins straight away. Have also bought a new saddle. The only component that wasn't Campag Veloce were the brake calipers, but I've since picked up a set and had them installed. Next on the list are the wheels (seem bomb proof, but the trade off is weight I'd imagine) and maybe a bigger crankset.

I found the cycle on WAR very tough. Having said that, it was the Slieve Maan and Shay Elliot routes, and my first really tough route, so that was mostly down to my fitness and preparation rather than the bike.

The cycle on GFW was excellent. Handled everything I threw at it no bother. The heavier wheels may have helped, or maybe something like a set of Zondas would have done the job just as well. Happy with the security of weight and strength for now though.

Very much liking the Veloce's quick shifters too when dropping gears.

Overall, very happy with the purchase and if anyone else is thinking about buying one, I don't think they'll be disappointed. Not for an entry level bike anyway.

    Happy cycling folks!

    Paddigol,

was looking at one today the Monzo 3.0. http://buildabike.ie/bike/monzo-3-0/ Is this model you have? Still happy with it?

I want it for entry level but don't want to change it down the line!

So the brake calipers were not Campag Veloce? Big deal or worth haggling when buying?

That's the one, except the colour scheme is blue-grey not red-white.

Yeah, very happy with it so far. No problems at all and a nice ride (oh matron!).

My brakes weren't Veloce, no. Wasn't a big deal for me, as a noobie, and at the time I didn't think I was been short changed. But I'd say definitely see if you can get Veloce brakes thrown in. I got Veloce calipers and pads in CSS for around €35 (have a look on their website, not sure what the price is now) so it shouldn't really cost the bike shop much at all to upgrade them. I'd be surprised if they point blank refused - just say you like the bike but want the full groupset.

    Hope that helps!

    Good to hear!

No fussed on the colour but blue-grey is better for the dirt.

A nice ride is always appreciated no matter in what context!

I just checked the site and included in the spec is "2x10 Campagnolo veloce Alloy brakes". So no issue there. He had said that there was a full groupset present. Getting a good deal with the bike to work scheme plus he offered a credit of €1150 against the bike listed at €995. Made me suspicious specially when I'm in sales myself. Can therefore get a bit of gear for the €150 included.

what did you pay as a matter of interest?

"Veloce Alloy Brakes" may mean brake levers and not brake calipers. If it important to you, make sure first.

I convinced my better half to get a bike too, so we both ended up getting the same one. For the two bikes I think we paid €1,700 with a few small bits thrown in on top.

    Eamonnator,

Thanks for the tip on the calipers. A newbie to this so just trying to maximise the bang for the buck.

    Paddigol,

€1700 for 2 sounds great so I have a view to knock off a bit from the €999 which is the in-shop price.

2 years service also thrown. I'm not trying to rob the guy but the Bike to work scheme is definitely skewing the market.

    Eamonnator & Paddigol,

A quick update , I eventually went for Giant Deft 3 composite

    http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/defy.composite.3/11497/55818/

It has been great so far with the composite frame definitely taking dome of the vibrations.
