Not really. I give two hoots what the road tax is or what they decide to use it for. It's the very least of the ways we get shafted in Ireland. VAT, Income tax, Property tax all bug me far more.

You get taxed on your wages. Fair enough(ish). Then you get taxed on everything you buy with those wages at 23%. Then you pay house tax, water tax(soon), TV tax, Car tax, 89c per litre fuel tax, carbon tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, tax on the interest your savings managed to acumulate, Stamp duty, County council levvies, fcuk me it's a wonder anyone has any money left at all. If you really sat down and worked it out, the real rate of Tax taken out of your wages is a damn sight higher than the "advertised rate".

Also, why does getting it(motor tax) have to be such a pain in the hole? Surely pop into the Post office, pay the money, get a disc. What's with all the blo0dy hoops you have to jump through?
