Would it be possible to become a vet by basically doing an apprenticeship at a vets? I have heard of one person doing it but it could be just a rumour. Has anybody else ever heard of it?

In order to register and work as a vet in Ireland you need a degree in veterinary medicine that is recognised by the Veterinary Council of Ireland (www.vci.ie). So no, it is not possible to do a veterinary apprenticeship based in the workplace.

Veterinary students do however spend a lot of time getting practical experience and training in veterinary practices during their undergraduate studies (it's a mandatory and enjoyable part of the course).
