I've just had a scale and polish this morning, my dentist recommends 'Flash Pearl' treatment over and above this - has anyone had this done, if so what was the outcome?

I have a similar machine in my surgery, I find it great for getting rid of stain between the teeth, like tobacco stain, corsydol staining etc. Its difficult to get in between the teeth with normal scalers and polish.

It takes 60 seconds and costs cents, charging extra is a gutsy move.

I had a molar removed just before Christmas last year so I've been using Corysdol on and off since then due to a mouth infection - it seems to have cleared up but the tops of my teeth look yellower than normal. What I'd like to know does this Flash Pearl work and is £40.00 a fair price for treatment?

Only link I can find is on the leaflet I was given - http://www.nsk-uk.com/

No 40 sterling is not a fair price, but by god I admire the dentists balls to charge that much for a air polish treatment.

Lol He is very easy on the eye though;) Maybe I'll shop around - If I can - it's very difficult to get a dentist who your not registered with to treat you - in Scotland anyway.

Flash pearl is something like a powder. It rolls smoothly over tooth surfaces to penetrate all corners and the powder base is natural tasting calcium. The product is ideal for patients with sensitivity to sodium bicarbonate or that have high blood pressure.

Agreed, I use an air polisher. I wouldn't charge extra for it although I do feel it's superior to the old rubber cup and polish.

this type of stain removal is classed as private treatment, so if it's an NHS dentist, then it can be differentiated from scaling to remove calculus.
given that the S&P on the NHS in scotland is feck all (£10.20), add it to the polishing and it'll bring it up to the price of a regular irish or private GB S&P.
