Xilerator, looks to have a fair bit in his favour here. He is a course and distance winner, and also has a proven liking for soft ground which he will get today. He ran a great race 2 runs ago in Thirsk, in what was probably a tougher race to be 2nd. He was poor last time, but hadn’t the best of draws and in these sprint handicaps poor runs can happen like that quite regularly. He is 9/1 in a few places and that looks about 3 points too big. Kingscroft my selection from Saturday who was second at a huge price should also get involved but I’m not that convinced of his value at 4/1.

    1 Point win 9/1 Boyles

Looks good, the last time Aspell was in the saddle for Nicholls he won.

4.50 Nottingham Magic Lando 10/3 is my only bet of the day. The nicely enough bred son of Lando ran a very encouraging debut for Ismail Mohammed over this C+D last month despite an awful lot going against him. Slowly into stride, Magic Lando missed the break by about 6 or 7L and despite looking a bit green he made some very eye catching progress around the outside still travelling well to go into 2nd before fading under a lovely introductory ride by Joe Fanning. Additionally, his saddle apparently slipped at some stage during the race and he certainly looked a horse with a significant future on that run. He should have come on an absolute ton for that run and I expect him to a much more race savvy individual. The superb Thomas Brown takes the ride and a very valuable 5lb off his back and I think Magic Lando has a really good chance in this race for a trainer clearly going places.
